Students

We all have an essential need to ask why. In the College of Liberal Arts (CLA), we never stop asking that question. In fact, as we say at the U of M, we're Driven to Discover. CLA prepares students to be independent and original thinkers, innovators in their chosen fields; to create meaning in their lives and in their life’s work; and to become productive citizens and leaders in their communities and the world.

The CLA Dean's List and Exceptional Students Celebration

Hosted annually by the CLA Alumni Society and the Student Board, this event recognizes CLA students who have made outstanding academic achievements. On April 14, honored students and their loved ones as well as CLA alumni, faculty, and staff joined together to celebrate student achievements.

CLA Dean's List

Each semester, we publicly recognize superior academic performance through:

• notations on students' transcripts
• letters to students
• posting the Dean's List on our website
• announcements to academic departments
• notices posted on the first floor of Johnston Hall

To appear on the CLA Dean's List, you must:

• complete at least 12 credits (including College of Continuing Education credits) of A/F registration
• earn a semester GPA of at least 3.67
• receive no N grades
